
A quick and comforting dish combining baked beans, ground beef, and a touch of heat from pickled jalapeños. Perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 boîte de 200 g sliced pickled jalapeños, drained
- 1 tbsp jalapeño brine
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 piece green bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic cloves
- 450 g ground beef
- 1 tsp fine salt (such as Diamond Crystal)
- ½ c. à café ground black pepper
- 800 g baked beans (such as Bush's Best Original)
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
Method
- Drain the jalapeños, reserving the brine. Set the jalapeños aside for garnish.
- Heat the oil in a medium skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add the finely diced green bell pepper and finely chopped garlic cloves. Cook, stirring, until fragrant and the bell pepper begins to soften, about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring and breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until it begins to brown, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Stir in the baked beans, ketchup, garlic powder, yellow mustard, and reserved brine. Mix well.
- Simmer everything, stirring occasionally, until the mixture bubbles and thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the burger beans to a serving dish and garnish with the reserved jalapeños.
