Octopus Ceviche

A classic Peruvian ceviche featuring tender octopus marinated in lime juice with red onion, chile, and cilantro.

Ingredients

  • 400 g fresh octopus
  • 4 pieces lime
  • 1 piece red onion
  • 1 piece fresh chile (aji limo or red chile)
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro
  • 1 tsp fine salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

Method

  1. Cook the octopus as instructed in the prepared component. Once cooked and cooled, cut it into pieces.
  2. Squeeze the limes to get about 100 ml of juice.
  3. Finely slice the red onion and the chile (seeded if you prefer it less spicy). Chop the cilantro.
  4. In a bowl, mix the octopus pieces with the lime juice, onion, chile, and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Let marinate in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately, optionally garnished with a few extra slices of red onion and cilantro leaves.
