Negroni

The perfect equal-parts Italian trio: gin, Campari, and sweet red vermouth. Bitter, silky, inevitable.

Ingredients

  • 3 cl gin
  • 3 cl Campari
  • 3 cl sweet red vermouth
  • 1 slice orange
  • gros cubes ice cubes

Method

  1. Fill a mixing glass (or a large glass) with ice cubes and pour in the gin, Campari, and vermouth.
  2. Stir with a bar spoon for about thirty seconds: the mixture should be chilled and slightly diluted.
  3. Place a large ice cube (ideally a single cube) in an old fashioned glass.
  4. Strain the mixture into the glass over the large ice cube.
  5. Express the orange zest over the glass, skin side facing the cocktail, to release the oils.
  6. Rub the zest around the rim of the glass, then drop it in.
