Vermouth Tonic

The refreshing Italian-Spanish classic: sweet red vermouth lengthened with tonic water, served on ice with a touch of citrus.

Ingredients

  • 100 ml sweet red vermouth (e.g., Martini Rosso, Cinzano Rosso)
  • 150 ml tonic water (preferably Indi or Fever-Tree)
  • 6 pieces ice cubes
  • 1 slice orange

Method

  1. Fill a large wine glass or highball glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the red vermouth over the ice.
  3. Top with the tonic water, pouring gently to preserve the bubbles.
  4. Stir gently once with a bar spoon or a straw.
  5. Garnish with an orange slice (or a lemon wheel, depending on preference) and serve immediately.
