White rum, muddled fresh mint, lime, and bubbles: the Cuban drink that tastes like summer.
Ingredients
- 5 cl white rum
- 0.5 pieces lime
- 10 leaves mint
- 2 tsp cane sugar
- 6 cl sparkling water
- un verre plein crushed ice
Method
- Place the lime wedges and sugar in a sturdy highball glass, and crush with a muddler to extract the juice.
- Add the mint leaves and press them GENTLY against the side with the muddler, just to release the fragrance: if torn, they become bitter.
- Fill the glass three-quarters full with crushed ice.
- Pour in the rum and stir from the bottom up with a spoon to mix everything.
- Top with more crushed ice, then sparkling water.
- Garnish with a beautiful mint sprig slapped between your hands to wake up its fragrance, and serve with a straw.
